National Museum of Colombo

The National Museum of Colombo is the largest museum in Sri Lanka, which was established in 1877.

This magnificent building holds the belongings and personal collection of Kandyan dynasty rulers. The building reflects the Italian style architecture and houses several centuries-old artifacts, representing the country’s historical culture.

The museum is open from 9 in the morning till 5 in the evening and is located around 4 km from the Colombo Bus stand. 

Shop at Pettah Floating Market

Pettah Floating market is situated on Pettah’s Bastian Mawatha and is among the most visited shopping spots in Colombo.

Shopping in this floating market is not like the regular filling the trunk kind of shopping. Here, shopping is an experience.

The other parts of the world are racing towards globalization, whereas the Pettah floating market is filled with a variety of shops along with the beauty of the city. It is hardly 600 meters away from the Colombo bus stand and usually opens around 8 in the morning and closes at 10:30 PM in the night. 

Viharamahadevi Park

Another of the most famous green spaces to see in Colombo is Viharamahadevi Park, located slightly south of Lake Beira and not far from the Independence Memorial Hall.

As in the rest of the city, the trees here tend to be gigantic, thanks to Colombo’s growing environmental protection laws.
